She has met and worked with many of the volunteer lawyers throughout the country who assist individuals and families navigate the complex field of immigration law.

Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) has been serving Bainbridge Island for almost 25 years, providing transportation, in-home services, and life-enriching activities for the homebound – all free of charge. IVC promotes the health, well-being, dignity and independence of the elderly, disabled and those in need by providing one-on-one relationships with trusted volunteers from our community.

As we are all aware, during this time when large scale fundraising events are not feasible, Island nonprofits have been struggling to continue supporting the services they provide. But IVC has come up with a creative approach: from June 1-6 they will be holding a week-long online event entitled YOU are the HEART of IVC, raising funds for the essential services they provide.

Listen here as Robin Gaphni, Rita Elsberry, and Lynn Murphy tell us about the work of IVC and how you can help.  To join their corps of over 200 volunteers, or to donate to YOU are the HEART of IVC, visit ivcbainbridge.org

Stephanie Harris, Executive Director of Bainbridge Chorale and Ginny Hawkins join us in this edition of What’s Up Bainbridge to discuss the exciting news about the upcoming performance of ‘Awakening’.  The winter concert, a joint production by Constellation Choir and Bridges, a string orchestra, is the inspiration of Harris and Hawkins, collaborating to form a presentation of a mixed-voice ensemble dedicated to exploring the unique repertoire of voice and strings.

‘Awakening' will be presented, Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 pm at Bainbridge Performing Arts.  Suggested donations will be gladly accepted at the door at 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Children and students, ages 18 and under may attend free.  Proceeds will benefit the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra.

When the shadows of the past make the present untenable for three sisters in a small coastal town, a lonely fishmonger might just make the difference. Come see The New Electric Ballroom, January 10-12 at Rolling Bay Hall, and experience the magic of this fourth offering in Wilson Milam’s Irish Play Series.

Listen here as Wilson and cast members Christen Muir (Breda), Michelle Allen (Ada) and Wayne Purves (Patsy) share their thoughts about this funny, tender, and occasionally pitch dark play. You’ll hear how the Irish Play Series came to be, what acting can teach us about parenting, and what lies in the future for Wilson and his merry troupe of players.

The New Electric Ballroom is only on offer for three shows: Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11 at 7:30, and Sunday January 12 at 5 pm. Get your tickets soon for this small venue – and plan to stay after the show (only an hour and a half long) to chat with the cast: you may have questions!
